Every teacher has this most asked question ‘How to sell online courses?’. So, the answer will come with two important strategies. We’ll be talking about two such strategies for which people actually charge fees from teachers by conducting webinars or courses. You must understand that these are the main strategies through which a teacher can sell his or her courses to the students.

Strategies for Online Course Selling

Let us now understand the two best strategies for selling courses online

Influencer Strategy

In this strategy, firstly the influencers search for trending topics, and keywords, and make videos on them. Now, when people search for such topics on social media, such as YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. Therefore, these platforms provide organic visibility to such videos. Here influencers do not pay any money to the platform for building reach or any other thing. Whereas, their videos are made on the trending keywords and this is the reason that they get organic reach and visibility. .

When their video reaches a huge audience and gets likes and comments, then this builds the authority of an influencer. When people see such a high number of views, likes, and comments on any video, then they think that this person can be trusted. Now, the next step that the influencers take is that they come up with a few courses worth Rs. 499, 699, or 999 and people start buying the courses as they have already consumed and liked their content.

This strategy comes as a long-term game where you’ll have to showcase yourself as an expert of a particular subject in front of the audience. This can done through the power of your content. Furthermore, when you keep on working on such topics and build an authority of yourself then you can launch a course related to such topic or subject.

Drawbacks of Influencer Strategy

The main drawback of this strategy is that you are totally dependent on your organic audience. For example, if you launch a course today, then you will be dependent on your YouTube subscribers or Instagram followers. Therefore, building a base of people who follow you for your content requires hard work of at least 3 to 4 years. So, it is obvious if you are starting a channel today and you have launched a course in the next week, then there are very less chances that people will buy your course. This is because credibility and authority comes with time. To resolve this issue, you will need to follow the second strategy, i.e., the Coach’s strategy.

This is because credibility and authority comes with time. To resolve this issue, you will need to follow the second strategy, i.e., the Coach’s strategy.

Coach’s Strategy

In this strategy, everyone requires media visibility and it is very important. Even a coach also requires media visibility. The aim is to reach lakhs of people so that thousands of people can show interest in your course. For this, coaches generally make ads and carry campaigns on YouTube. These are paid advertisements. When you choose media advertising, you get media visibility. But, here are a few such viewers who think that these are sponsored ads and they will not trust such ads. So, the people will see the full ads only if they like something and will connect with you in a webinar or one-to-one session, wherever you wish to gather your audience.

In the webinar, people listen to the coach for an hour or two and then the coach makes an offer. If the viewers think that this course can be helpful for them, then they purchase the L1 course of the coach. Now, it is the responsibility of the coach to serve and satisfy people who have joined the course seeking good results.

Now, people want more courses from the coach, and for this, the coach launches the L2 program which has a high ticket. Still, it continues to be the duty of a coach to serve and satisfy the people. In this way, the coach goes from Level -1 to Level -2. Even, in the initial stages, the coaches do not earn any money in Level -1 and they earn money in Level -2, and Level -3. This is a step-by-step process, where customer satisfaction must be guaranteed at all stages.

Implementation of Coach’s Strategy

This strategy works well for those who are not known faces in the digital world and therefore, in order to be known by people, you choose the way of running ads on YouTube, Facebook, and other platforms to get subscribers for your course. Users get attracted to these ads and join your free or low-cost webinar where you can motivate the viewers and sell the courses.

For this, you will require huge money to make powerful ads and run them, create a landing page, and a lot many other things. If you have sufficient money, then you must choose this strategy as it is long-lasting. Whereas, in the influencer strategy, you will be only dependent on your active subscribers, and therefore, this strategy will limit your scope of reaching new people. Moreover, influencer strategy does not help in the long term.

If you are at a known platform, then you can first start with the influencer strategy and then you can shift to the coach’s strategy after gathering enough money.
